Administers the nursing program in a nursing home in the absence of the Nursing Director. Oversees operations in order to maintain standards of patient care; advises management, patient care staff and administrators in matters related to nursing service. Assists in the establishment and implementation of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Typically requires an advanced degree in nursing and is licensed as a registered nurse. May require at least 5 years of experience in the nursing field. Generally manages professional staff. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
