Supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a medical library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Responds to more complex requests from faculty, medical staff, students etc. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school with at least 7 years of experience in the field. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a director.
