Job Description for Design Manager

Manages a team of designers and drafters that use computer aided design (CAD) for products. Ensures the drawings and designs are completed on time and adhere to the established specifications and standards. May prepare project schedules, bids, or proposals. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and at least 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department.
