Conducts college-level courses in the field of dentistry. Areas of instruction include the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the teeth and gums, preventative medicine, dental specialties, and patient interaction. Responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, leading and moderating classroom discussions, and administering and grading examinations. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree in area of specialty and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a department head.
