Responsible for the overall management of mining projects. Assists in staffing, outlining project plans, setting project goals/deadlines, and evaluating performance. Ensures the safety and health of mine workers. Recommends corrective action when problems are detected. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. May require certification by the MSHA. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Leads and directs the work of others. Typically reports to a head of unit/department.
