Job Description for Museum Curator - Higher Ed.

Responsible for the care of the museum's entire collection. Determines the layout of pieces throughout the museum. Coordinates special exhibitions, arranges research, and manages the storage of the collection. Contacts benefactors and writes grant proposals to increase museum funding. Recommends additions to the collection and keeps the inventory up to date. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 4-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or a head of a unit/department.
