Job Description for Physician - Pain Medicine

Specializes in pain management. Examines patients to determine discomfort level and cause of pain. Recommends tests to determine extent of pain, help diagnose condition, or manage pain. Provides relief from acute or chronic pain through the use of medications, nerve blocks, electrical stimulation, or other therapies. Requires a degree in medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. May require at least 2-4 years of pain management/medicine experience. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.
