Underwriter (P/C) III analyzes and reviews inspection reports, location, risk, credit reports, etc. to accept or reject renewal/new property and casualty policy applications. Decides on appropriate premium rates and issues coverage. Being an Underwriter (P/C) III provides customer services regarding underwriting processes and decisions. May communicate with field agents to gather additional information or to explain underwriting decisions. Additionally, Underwriter (P/C) III typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Underwriter (P/C) III work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
