Meeting/Event Manager manages and oversees the planning of live or virtual meetings and events for an organization. Defines the strategy and tactics to achieve the event objectives. Being a Meeting/Event Manager directs research of event venues. Develops a vendor network and negotiates contracts for catering and other event support services. Additionally, Meeting/Event Manager manages pre-event activities and post-event evaluations. Monitors and controls event budgets and prepares periodic management reports. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Meeting/Event Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.
