Cashier I assists customers checking out in a store. Scans items, requests price checks, honors appropriate coupons, collects payment and gives change as appropriate. Being a Cashier I is responsible for counting contents of cash register drawer at the end of each shift. May bag items or perform other duties as needed. Additionally, Cashier I may help with store opening and closing procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Cashier I works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.
