Job Description for Top Accounting Executive

Top Accounting Executive develops and leads an organization's accounting strategic planning, policy development, and operations. Advises top management and business units of recent and future accounting regulations to identify, plan, and optimize changes impacting the organization. Being a Top Accounting Executive designs accounting systems and procedures to ensure compliance with governmental financial and tax regulations and FASB standards such as GAAP and IFRS. Operationalizes accounting and auditing systems and processes for continuous monitoring capabilities and improvements. Additionally, Top Accounting Executive builds expertise across accounting functions with relevant and timely staff training and development programs. Typically requires a master's degree in accounting or finance. May require Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Typically reports to top management. The Top Accounting Executive manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact. Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given major function or line of business.
