Job Description

Manages an organization's computer aided design (CAD) department. Ensures departmental standards for software, techniques, and tools to prepare technical drawings are current and effective. Reviews performance on projects. Assesses potential new uses for CAD within the organization. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Leads new CAD initiatives, and ensures the department has the staffing and resource allocation it needs to complete its objectives. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director or head of unit/department. Typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.
