Job Description

The Museum Shop Manager develops strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, and increase profitability. Plans and directs the day-to-day operations of a retail store within a museum. Being a Museum Shop Manager ensures all products and displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales and profitability. Ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient. In addition, Museum Shop Manager forecasts staffing needs and develops a recruiting strategy to provide optimal staffing in all areas. May require a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Lead and directs the work of others. Typically reports to Retail Store Manager, Sr. The Museum Shop Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.
