Job Description

The Mechanical Equipment Technician I performs skilled repair services of mechanical, electrical, and building systems and equipment. Maintains and services mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Being a Mechanical Equipment Technician I identifies parts needed for replacement and places orders as necessary. Conducts periodic inspections to evaluate requests for repair. In addition, Mechanical Equipment Technician I completes all work in accordance with established safety procedures. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Being a Mechanical Equipment Technician I possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.
