The Histologist uses computerized equipment and records observations from tests. Performs complex histological procedures by cutting, mounting, and studying specimens of human tissue to provide data on the functioning of tissues and organs, and the causes or progress of disease. Being a Histologist requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. May require ASCP registration. In addition, Histologist typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Typically requires Histotechnologist, HTL (ASCP). Being a Histologist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
