The Import Logistics Manager develops and enforces standard operating procedures to comply with federal regulations. Manages the production, import, and transportation of foreign goods. Being an Import Logistics Manager may be responsible for planning and scheduling to ensure imported goods arrive on time. Builds relationships with clients and helps resolve any freight problems that may arise. In addition, Import Logistics Manager may be involved in problem resolution and negotiation with freight-handling arrangements with foreign clients. Requires a bachelor's degree of specialty. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Import Logistics Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Working as an Import Logistics Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
