Job Description

The Network/Systems Administrator V installs, configures, and maintains system software. Responsible for daily administration of a network/server environment. Being a Network/Systems Administrator V plans and implements upgrades, patches, and installation of new applications and equipment. Monitors network performance, troubleshoots more complex issues and deploys solutions. In addition, Network/Systems Administrator V creates and maintains a disaster recovery, security and back up and restore plan and policy. May lead the evaluation of new technologies and perform analysis/feasibility studies to guide decisions on the best way to optimize network efficiency and performance. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to manager or head of a unit/department. May require Network Administration certification. Being a Network/Systems Administrator V works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in solution or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization.
