The Information Systems Operations Manager establishes department policies and procedures. Plans, directs, and manages the daily operations of a computer operations department. Being an Information Systems Operations Manager may require an associate's degree in a related area. Responsible for operation of mainframe and peripheral information system equipment and for developing schedules for equipment usage. In addition, Information Systems Operations Manager typically reports to head of a unit/department. The Information Systems Operations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Working as an Information Systems Operations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
