The Major Gifts Managing Officer develops a portfolio of existing and potential donors and a strategy to enhance and extend relationships to generate philanthropic revenue. Manages and implements a philanthropic gift program to nurture and solicit relationships with corporate, institutional, and major donors. Being a Major Gifts Managing Officer makes regular personal contact with key contributors to strengthen relations with the organization. Organizes events and meetings with prospects to raise awareness of the organization's mission and highlight accomplishments and ongoing funding needs. In addition, Major Gifts Managing Officer oversees proposal preparation and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Major Gifts Managing Officer manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Working as a Major Gifts Managing Officer typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.
