The Manager of Patient Admissions implements admissions policies and practices and coordinates with medical, nursing, and accounting staff to ensure appropriate patient placement. Manages the day-to-day operations for the admitting department including bed assignments and completion of preliminary paperwork. Being a Manager of Patient Admissions may require a bachelor's degree. Ensures that all insurance benefits coverage meets standards of admission as dictated by hospital policy. In addition, Manager of Patient Admissions typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Manager of Patient Admissions manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Working as a Manager of Patient Admissions typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
