Job Description

Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients in the coronary care unit by providing quality care to heart disease and heart attack patients and families. Performs diagnostic evaluations of the arteries of the heart and identifies blockages. Assists physician during procedures. Administers medications and develops patient care plans in conjunction with other medical professionals. Monitors patient's status before, during, and after procedures. Observes patients' progress, records observations in patient medical record, and updates attending physician directly when necessary. Educates patients and families about the patients illness and treatment plan. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Nurse (RN). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Years of experience may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.
