The Certified Pharmacy Technician - Specialty Medications collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense high dollar/specialty medications (e.g. Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis). Being a Certified Pharmacy Technician - Specialty Medications may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Receives and stocks incoming supplies. In addition, Certified Pharmacy Technician - Specialty Medications requires a high school diploma. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Being a Certified Pharmacy Technician - Specialty Medications works under moderate supervision. Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.
