Conducts college-level courses in the field of physical therapy. Areas of instruction include physical therapy, kinesiotherapy, and rehabilitation psychology. Responsible for preparing and delivering lectures and leading classroom discussions. May administer and grade examinations or delegate the task to others. Conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Requires a doctorate degree in area of specialty, tenure, and at least 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a department head.
