Job Description for Optometrist

Examines patient's eyes to detect vision problems, diseases, and other abnormal conditions. Prescribes eyeglasses and contact lenses, and may prescribe drugs to treat eye disorders. Requires Doctor of Optometry degree, graduation from an accredited optometry school, and must pass both a written National Board examination and a National, regional, or State clinical examination. May require at least 2-4 years of experience. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. May report to a medical director. View Optometrist job description
